Because their music have become “my heart and my soul”
Because their music have become “my heart and my soul”
Happy 35th birthday Matthew James Bellamy, you precious human being!
**This post is from my experience on the meet and greet I won last February in Sunrise FL.**
February 22nd 2013 at 5:30pm, after being in the queue since 6am, just because hanging out with musers is awesome, I met with a Warner Brothers US representative at the Box Office. First thing she tells me is ohhh I’m sorry, but you can’t give that to the band (referring to a cookie cake with The 2nd Law radioactive broccoli art on top I made with a friend) also gotta let you know that there will be no autographs and you can only take one photo with your cel phone. I asked why was that and her response was “it is what the band wants”. (Bullshit I say!) After this welcoming I asked her if I was gonna be able to return to the queue, and she said after the backstage tour and m&g they would take us outside with our tickets and we could proceed to the GA floor. I asked for my tickets and she said I had 5 minutes to go get them at the box office, that they were on a tight schedule and everything was running behind already I go to the box office and there are no tickets under my name and I started freaking out!! So I said screw the tickets I’m not missing meeting Muse. From there she took us down to the “bowels” of the venue and there we meet with Glenn Rowe who would take us all around the stage, we got to see Matt’s little rest space and also his guitars, the piano and equipment (no photos) he also explained to us the process of building up the stage, got to see Chris’s equipment (yey photo!) and then up to Dom’s drumset! Dom’s sneakers were there still from sound check that afternoon and Morgan was there too. After this we headed out to dinner, not with the band, but in a very hot and dark room in the basement, gotta admit that the food was delicious but had to scarf it down as “they were on a tight schedule and running late” (notice I still have no tickets for the gig) after they rush us to finish having dinner we head outside an there was Dom Anderson who shouted at me saying that I stole his jersey! We had a laugh and I told him “seriously Dom, you need to give us the north east dates already” I also told him that it was hard enough for us to schedule our lives around Muse tour dates and he gave me a *you think is any easier for me* look and I just smiled and said, “we still love you” and one of the Warner ladies said “more than you all love Tom” and I said ohhhh wellll… Anderson looked disappointed and started walking away (like a little child) only to come back and take a photo together. (he whispered to me “on the fall”) ;)
After this they took us to the front of the venue to look for my tickets (finally!!!) and there the Warner lady got in an argument with one of the security guys about the group being in front of the disabled access door and how we had to move to another entrance. Obviously organization was wayyyy off. After this shameful episode in front of the whole queue, they had us at another walkway for about 30 minutes. First they said we could take just one photo with our cel phones, now that changed to one photo with one of the Warner’s employees cel phone and they would email or text message the photo later to us. While in the line I start taking a good look at these contest winners and well lets jut say they were not Muse fans, one of them asked me where was I from I replied I live in PA and his answer was “and you came all the way here just to see a band?” JUST TO SEE A BAND!!! A bit later I heard the same person asking one of the Warner ladies “so when am I getting the guitar I won” yeah, that really happened…
Finally the time arrived and they lined us up to meet the boys. At this point I was feeling frustrated and a bit overwhelmed, but that changed in just a second! I entered the room and the first face I see is Matt’s next to Chris on his right and right after was Dom automatically someone opened the water works, Matt tells me “what’s wong” (yeah no R just wong!!) and right at that moment Chris gave me my first Wolstenhug, then I hugged Dom still in tears and last Matt. Now the rest of it happened in under one minute, don’t ask me how I talked that fast but I did and they understood me… I think…
I said “I want to welcome you guys back to the US and also thank you for coming to FL, I want you guys to know that we love you and your music, you guys keep lots of us sane.” Matt said thank you very much and because I was talking very fast I turned to Chris right away and said “Chris, Foxy Jamie said hi, and he gave me the task of keeping the banter on the barrier going so I’ll attempt to mess up your snappy fingers in Survival, you are a big role model to lots of us and I love you so much!!!” He smiled and SECOND WOLSTENHUG!!!! This man … WoW!! Dom was smiling all the time and just nodding lol. Then I said “the War Child gig was brilliant, please always remind us the reason we fell in love with Muse in the first place, Dead Star was amazing we would love to hear more of that” then Matt asked us where we from I said I’m from PR but live in PA and my cousin told him that he lived in PR and that they had lots of fans there, that it would be great if they went over sometime. Matt said he’s heard from PR and is really looking forward to visit the island by the end of this year. I said, OH I almost forgot, I need to show you guys something! And I pulled up my sleeve and showed them my Exo tatto, Matt said that is brilliant! Chris said Wow! And Dom’s jaw dropped. I told Matt it was not finished yet and he (Matt) turned to the production people and said, can someone take a photo of this, I need to have a photo of it! Since I showed it earlier to Glenn he had taken a photo already and he told Matt he did so. Matt nodded as a sign of approval. Then the Warner people rushed us to take the photo and we said goodbye.
Between all the confusion and the frustration I felt at some point that my experience with the boys was going to be a mess, but as everything in life Muse always make it all better, I bet they do for you, they surely did for me! =D
So I got a new Tattoo at the same place, on the same chair and with the same artist Chris got his Buster/Teddi ones in NYC. I got Chris’s autograph on me and now Im a Wolstengirl FOR LIFE! ♥
